Reader's note | Any types of note written by a reader concerning the content of the manuscript. | |
Manicula | Little hand in the margins drawn by a reader to direct the attention to a particular passage. | |
Probatio pennae | Pen trial, either in the form of doodles or of words or short sentences written by the scribe to test out a newly cut or sharpened quill. | |
Inscription | Any type of inscription present in the manuscript that is not the result of a reading of the manuscript and that does therefore not relate to its content. This includes ownership inscriptions, inscriptions about the purchase of the book, or any other kind of inscription not related to the content. |
